Scavengers work fast.
Jun. 17th, 2026 04:53 pmI will cut this for gore and animal death (no cruelty, just nature):
When I woke up this morning, the cat (kind of my cat) was standing on the doorstep next to the decapitated body of a small rabbit. I didn't know exactly what to do about this---I certainly didn't want to put it somewhere where the dogs might find it, and also that doesn't seem like the type of thing that goes into the garbage. I was considering gathering it up for a sea burial, but didn't know if that would be pollution. How deep was I supposed to bury it in the sand? So at the same time, I started hearing crows outside. It shifted positions and got smaller. I then left to go somewhere for two hours, and when I came back, there was just a...small pile of viscera on the deck outside my door. So the crows (or vultures) got to work.Of course, it was a bit unpleasant, but I know predation and scavenging are part of nature.
